As a member of the 4th Loka International Colour Salon, Lumen 2001, sponsored by FIAP and the Slovenia Federation, I spent a weekend on Skofja Loka, a beautiful old town not far from Ljubljana. The first contact with the local Photo Club Anton Azbe members and the President of the Slovenia Photographic Society brought me to the historic centre of the town at the confluence of two rivers. Although late evening, there was an exciting atmosphere with live music, groups of young people and a nucleus of well-preserved old buildings, including the castle and town hall.
The President of the Slovenia Society, Mr. Pokorn, brought Mr. Matzner, the President of the Austrian Federation, and myself to Bled, a well-known spa resort in the midst of a valley. There is the famous lake with islands and castles surrounded by high mountains peaks. Among the well-appointed villas, one can see the the former residence of Marshall Tito who was a regular visitor. The landscape around Granska Gora, Kraj, Skofa Loka impressed me most. However, the warmth of the people there could lead to good contacts and an opportunity to organize Photo Club trips and UNPC exhibitions in Slovenia.
Congratulations
to the Organizers of the slide competition and many thanks for
inviting the UNPC to participate in this event.
