Colors and Shadows of Bolivia

Photographs by Francisco Claure Ibarra

This is Bolivia recreated as a memory and a recognized reality by an artist who after having been abroad, and absorbed European culture, now returns for a short period to Bolivia in search of his identity, which he interprets dramatically and with great feeling.

Colours and Shades of Bolivia, show the local landscape and day to day human contact experienced and so aptly described when seen through the eyes of Francisco. He narrates poems full of enchantment, nostalgia and beauty. His photographs leave one with the impression of antique paintings taking us into abstract time. His meticulous handling of black and white with a unique and advanced technique, make his work unmatched; each photograph is worked by hand using temperature values, exposure, and chemical reaction of the material he employs, even with climatic elements. Without a sense of competition, absent in his artistic philosophy, he has widely exhibited his photographs in the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Slovakia and Bolivia
